John is
the Federal Tax Partner at PrangleyMarks, LLP. He specializes in several
practice areas including all facets of the firm’s tax practice and client
service.

He graduated from
Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI and holds a Masters of Science in
Taxation from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA. John is also a
former US Naval officer serving as the operations officer of USS Rehoboth
(AGS-50). He joined the firm in 1986 as a tax partner by merging in part
of Grant Thornton’s Grand Rapids office practice.

John is active in
several professional organizations including CPA Associates International,
Inc., serving as the past Tax Committee Chairman and a Tax Liaison
Partner. He has also been active in the Western Michigan Estate Planning
Council since 1982 as a member of the Board of Directors and the Fiduciary
Tax Group. He served on the Lake Michigan Estate Planning Council until
1993 and was Chairman from 1981 to 1982. John has been a member of the
American Institute of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs since 1970.

John has been a member
of the Michigan Association of CPAs since 1972 and serves on several committees
such as the Federal Tax, and the MACPA/GVSU Tax Symposium Committees. He
is also the past Chairman of the Federal Tax Task Force and formerly a
GVSU Adjunct Professor.

In addition to these
professional organizations, John has been very active in the Grand Rapids
community. He has been a member of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of
Commerce since 1982 and served on the Public Information Committee and the
CEO Roundtable. He has also served on the Board of Directors and the
Planned GIVING Committee for the Kent County Unit of the American Cancer
Society.
